Threads of Change

Threads of Change was a traveling exhibition showcasing the textile cultures of North-East India. Curated by the National Institute of Design, and showcased at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, the exhibition was a display of the rich and varied visual languages used in the fabrics of the tribes of the Himalayan regions of north-east India.

Design and fabrication of exhibition display systems using bamboo – a sustainable, traditional building material of the region – along with jute and metal. Designed to be easy to install & dismantle, the exhibition traveled from Delhi to multiple locations across Western and eastern India.

The narrative was built around the artifacts curated by the Head of Textile Design at The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The challenge was to weave a story that reflected the commonalities and the uniqueness of the many cultures in the region.
